- Identify the elements of the human defense system against infection and define their mechanisms

- Describe the molecular interactions of pathogens with host

- Characterize virulence factors

During the course we are going to discuss below mentioned topics:

Main reasons for increased incidents of infectious diseases; Emerging and Reemerging Infectious Diseases; Defense against infections –non-specific and specific defense mechanisms; virulence factors – structures and function; Bacterial strategies of host immune system inactivation; Biofilm formation and communication of bacteria; Intracellular pathogens; Microbiome; how to study infectious disease; local and systemic infectious disease, microbiota shift diseases; the role of infectious diseases in etiology of autoimmune reaction
