Cele kształcenia:

(tylko po angielsku) The course aims at familiarizing students with challenges and risk factors for epidemics, their impact on global public health security, as well as with an overview of the global health diplomacy system. Participants will learn about the international frameworks of cooperation in health, get to know the principles guiding the response to epidemics and test their applicability to the challenges of the 21st century.

Efekty kształcenia:

(tylko po angielsku) LO 1: The student can understand the definition, history and phases of epidemics.

LO 2: The student has knowledge of the major infectious threats in the 21st century, its challenges and risk factors.

LO 3: The student can understand the elements of the comprehensive outbreak response and the role played by the international community.

LO 4: The student is aware of existing international norms and the principals of global health security.

LO 5: The student can apply the knowledge gained during the course to analyze emergency, preparedness and response capacities to disease outbreaks and apply them to a potential empirical case. Practitioner perspectives will help to broaden the student’s understanding and analyze current crises.

LO 6: The student has knowledge of the global health governance system and existing international frameworks of cooperation in health.

LO 7: The student can apply the knowledge gained during the course to international fieldwork.

(tylko po angielsku) Written exam at the end of the course ( multiple choice test and 3 open-ended questions)

Additional points that count for the overall grade can be obtained due to a student’s active participation in the course (‘interventions’ during lecture and min. 75% attendance)
