The course comprises both and runs from the beginning of the semester until mid-May. The first meeting will be held on 5 March 2024. ATTENTION! Cele kształcenia: | (tylko po angielsku) The course has an introductory, yet comprehensive character. It aims to provide students with basic knowledge on the concept of human rights and their protection in Europe at various levels of legal order: international, regional and domestic. Special attention will be paid to relations and interactions between human rights and European law, both in terms of legitimacy of human rights discourses and transformations of their protection systems. |

Forma i warunki zaliczenia: | (tylko po angielsku) In order to complete the course, students will need to pass a final written exam which will have two parts: multiple choice test and case analysis. |

Metody sprawdzania i kryteria oceny efektów kształcenia uzyskanych przez studentów: | (tylko po angielsku) Written exam (multiple choice test and case analysis). Students will be assessed according to the following criteria: 1) general knowledge on the human rights in the context of globalisation, 2) ability to apply human rights norms, 3) logic and cohesion of arguments. |

The system of human rights protection in Europe. 4. ECHR: Basics. 5. ECHR: Protection system. 6. ECHR: Rights and freedoms. 7. Human rights protection in the EU. 8. Human rights protection in domestic legal systems (comparative analysis). 9. EU’s accession to the ECHR. Human rights law in Europe and legal pluralism. 10. Human rights in the era of globalisation and populism: challenges, legitimacy and effectiveness. |
