Cele kształcenia: | The aim of the course is to provide students with a general overview of the functioning the EU financial market and the processes of economic and monetary integration. The second aim is analyze and discuss the causes of the last financial crisis (2009-2014) in selected EU countries, main threats and the mechanisms of recovery. |

Efekty kształcenia: | EK1: Deepened knowledge about the financial markets in the EU countries (K_W11 ++) EK2: An advanced and well-ordered scope of knowledge on the international financial markets and economic integration terminology and the operating principles of EU markets (K_W13 +++) EK3: An advanced scope of knowledge about the theory of European integration and the creation of a common market for financial services (K_W14 +++) EK4: Ability to analyze, compare and interpret facts and processes taking place in the international financial markets (K_U06 +++) EK5: Ability to prepare presentations and communicate information, ideas, problems and solutions relevant to financial markets and their functioning. (K_U10 +++) |

Wymagania wstępne: | Basic knowledge of micro and macroeconomics |

Forma i warunki zaliczenia: | Components of the final grade: Active participation in class - 10% of final grade. Each student may have two absences from class with no consequences. More than 3 absences result in the removal of the participation in the course. Short tests from the articles - 20% of final grade. Final exam on global finance - 70% of final grade. Final Exam: written tests multiple choice questions, fill-in-the blank test and short open questions The final exam will be orgnized on the PEGAZ EXAMS platform. Exam date: During session and retake session. The exact dates will be scheduled during first class and then confirmed during last class (exam: 23 June, 16:00, retake exam: 8 September, 16:00). |

1. Introduction to finances, basic definitions and theories. 2. The selected vocabulary related to the course topics, e.g. the balance of payments, exchange rates, the genesis of the Bretton Woods System and the main motives of the EU integration. 3. The history of the European integration 4. Steps to european monetary union, theory of monetary integration, optimum currency area etc. 5. Advantages and disadvantages of the euro currency 6. The crisis in the eurozone - the main features of the crisis 7. Exiting from the crisisin the EU: European Stability Mechanism, Banking Union 8. Description of the financial crisis in selected countries: Greece, Ireland, Spain 9. The future of the European Union and the eurozone 10. Selected non-economic issues related to the EU integration |
