Efekty kształcenia:


Knowledge of the basic aspects of the preparation of a research project from the stage of hypothesis to writing applications. Awareness of how to assess research projects.


A doctoral student is able to formulate scientific hypotheses, develop a plan of a study and prepare its budget. A PhD student is able to prepare a research project proposal to funding agencies, e.g. Preludium contest of the National Science Center. A student can write a review of the project.


PhD student actively seeking ways to solve scientific problems. He/she recognizes the value of teamwork. Student evaluates scientific projects of other participants in a constructive way and draws conclusions from the comments of others.

Wymagania wstępne:

There are no prerequisites. Students are obliged to participate in the workshop from the beginning to the end. If possible, please bring your own computers to the course. Practical information and reports from previous editions of the course are available at: http://www.eko.uj.edu.pl/phd/

Metody sprawdzania i kryteria oceny efektów kształcenia uzyskanych przez studentów:

Evaluation is based on the degree of involvement of participants in the course, formal and substantive correctness and timeliness of the prepared project and reviews.

Metody dydaktyczne:

Doctoral students work in small teams to develop projects based on their own ideas. Each stage of creating projects is discussed by all participants. The role of the instructor is to coordinate activities, stimulate discussion, give advice and choose the reviewers among the course participants and from outside.

Active training based on the own ideas of doctoral students in the field of evolutionary biology, ecology and environmental biology. The course is devoted to preparing research projects:

- Formulating research hypotheses;

- Planning of experiments;

- Designing and justifying the budget;

- Writing a review of the project;

- Presenting and defending the project.
