Cele kształcenia: | (tylko po angielsku) To provide students with fundamental knowledge of sociolinguistic study To familiarize students with the methods of conducting a sociolinguistic interview. To relate the subject of different -lects, including sociolects, regiolects and ethnolects, expecially where they concern the subject of communities of practice. Students will also gain knowledge on the relationship between language and identity |

Efekty kształcenia: | (tylko po angielsku) Students are able to identify the different types of lects, as well as they are able to name examples of such lects (sociolects, ethnolects, regiolects, etc.) from memory. Students are able to define the keys terms in sociolinguistics. Students are able to recognize the importance of linguistic variation in forming communities of practice, as well as to define what linguistic features may be analyzed in differentiating and recognizing communities of practice. Students are familiar with the concepts embedded within knowledge of sociolinguistic study, including dialects, accents, linguistic variation, language attitudes and the pioneering linguists responsible for sociolinguitics as a field. Students are able to identify the sociolinguistic interview as a method, naming its parts, types and components. |

Wymagania wstępne: | (tylko po angielsku) Students are required to attend class, with an allowance of two absences. Students must produce a paper or presentation at the end of the semester, demonstrating that they have acquired the knowledge presented in the Learning Outcomes. |

Forma i warunki zaliczenia: | (tylko po angielsku) Short test End of semester project, assessed on the basis of a short presentation. Students are additionally expected to read any of the required reading for discussion before a given class. |

(tylko po angielsku) The course aims to relate some of the topics considered in the area of language and society (sociolinguistics) as a subfield. The course covers the differences between macro and micro-sociolinguistics, providing students with the materials to broaden their knowledge at home, as well. |
