In the field of knowledge:

- student is able to describe cardiovascular resuscitation guidelines in adults

- student is able to describe the rules of giving fist aid to a patient in shock and in life threatening conditions associated with mechanical injuries of particular parts of the body

- is able to describe the method of patient's assesment according to ABCDE pattern and basic medical history taking.


In the field of skills:

- is able to conduct cardiovascular resuscitation with use of AED, AMBU bag, and medical equipment for maintaning airways patency

- is able to provide medical first aid to the patient in shock, in life threatening conditions associated with trauma.

- is able to asses patient condition according to ABCDE pattern and take simple medical history

- is able to clear airways with LMA, laryngeal tube, nasopharyngeal tube

- is able to use passive oxygen therapy

- is able to secure a patient with a spinal board, scoop stretcher, cervical collar, splinters, space blanket.


In the field of social skills:

- shows skill of self-learning

- works in group taking responsiblity for execution of tasks

- is able to lead a group working on common tasks

- warns the etical patterns in proffesional work

- is able to teach other students

Wymagania wstępne:

Passed course MFA I

Student is able to assess patient with ABC pattern, take simple medical history, take patient's blood pressure, call for medical help, sets patient in recovery position, conduts cardiovascular resuscitation with use of AED.

Forma i warunki zaliczenia:

(tylko po angielsku) MCQ exam

Practical exam – 2 clinical cases (one traumatic, one medical emergency)

2nd term of the exam – oral conducted by course director or a delegated tutor.

To pass the course following conditions are mandatory:

1. Presence at the classes – one abscence is permited.

2. Active participation in the classes – tutor's assessment..

3. Passing practical exam – simulated clinical cases

4. Passing MCQ test

Aims of the course:

1. Repetition of the cardiovascular resuscitation rules in adults.

2. Diagnosing and treatment of a patient in shock.

3. Introduction to medical first aid in life-theatening condition in trauma.

4. Introduction to ABCDE patern in trauma patient assesment.

5. Rules of medical equipment use: nasopharyngeal tube, laryngeal mask airway, self inflating bag with face mask, set for oxygen therapy, sucktion devices, spinal board, scoop stretcher, cervical collar, splint, space blanket.

6. Rules of maitaning safe enviroment to the patient and the rescuer.

Pełny opis: (tylko po angielsku)

Course programme, practical classes and problem based learning, during which student will get familiar with rules of cardiovascular resuscitation and tatcics of rescue operation, providing medical first aid, TRIAGE, medical documentation and evacuation from a danger scene.

Practical training

1. Rules of clearing airways using medical equipment, active and passive oxygen therapy.

2. Assessment of patient with ABCDE pattern.

3. Cardiovascular resuscitation with use of equipment for airways clearing, AMBU bag, AED.

4. Utilization of equipment in providing medical care in patient assessment: spinal board, scoop stretcher, cervical collar, splinters, space blanket, dressings.

5. Medical first aid providing in patitent in life threatening condition due to trauma, ABCDE pattern, medical history taking.
