Cele kształcenia: | Learning general skills within the field of cardiac surgery, in parti-cular about the methods if surgical treatment of the diseases of heart and great vessels; order of specialist examinations and inter-pretation or their results; qualification for surgery, estimation of the risk; postoperative treatment, including basics of anticoagulant therapy; most common techniques used in cardiac surgery; mate-rials and devices; basics of proceeding in cardiac emergencies. |

Efekty kształcenia: | Student is familiar with the most important problems of cardiac surgery. Possess the knowledge about physiology and pathology of the cardiovascular system. Can examine the patients and achieve initial diagnostics; propose specialist examinations and s their results. Knows indications for heart surgery, can present a case during heart team meeting, can estimate the risk. Is able to diagnose cardiac emergencies and knows the basics of their treat-ment. Possess the basic knowledge on treatment of cardiosurgical patients, including anticoagulation; can interpret the result of INR, and estimate the dose of anticoagulant. Possess the basic know-ledge about extracorporeal circulation, cardiac support systems, hypothermia, cardioplegia; most common types of surgeries, as well as novel techniques; materials and devices, including implantable. Become acquainted with basics of heart transplantology. |

Focus on practice and visualization. |

Bilans punktów ECTS: | All lessons with participation of academic teacher and students. Number of lessons: 6 lessons hours daily x 5 days = 30 hours weekly. The general number of lessons hours depends to the choosen time of realization of the module. Minimum: 8 days = 50 (+40) = 90 hours. Usually two weeks of lessons. Number of groups dependent to announcement. |

Acquaintance with the most important problems of cardiac surgery, substantial for all physicians’ practice: *basic knowledge on history and development of cardiac surgery, including new technologies; *ability of patient’ examination; *ability for charging of basic and specialist examinations, and interpretation of their results; basics on ECHO, Angio, CT. MRI, etc.) *basics of qualification for surgery and alternative treatment; risk estimation ; *diagnostics and proceeding of life-theatening situations (including heart tamponadę, hemothorax, (tension) pneumothorax etc.; *basic knowledge on the most common heart and great vessels’ diseases (coronary disease, valvular malformations, congernatal malformations, aortic aneurysms and dissect-ions, cardiac tumors, electrocardiologic problems, pulmonary embolism trauma, etc.; *basics on epidemiology and pathophysiology of heart diseases; *basics on extracorporeal circulation, methods of heart support; hypothermia, cardioplegia; *basic knowledge on most common cardiac operations: classical, mini-invasive (OPCAB, TAVI, etc.), hybrid; *orientation in materials and implantable devices (artificial valves and bioprostheses, pacemakers, VAD, vascular prostheses, etc.); *basics on postoperative and durable treatment in cardiosurgery; *practical knowledge on anticoagulant therapy; *basics on heart transplantation. |
