Pełny opis: (tylko po angielsku)

Works of art are not only confined within museum and gallery walls, but also integrated in the public sphere – on the streets, in the parks, in the passages, in public buildings (railway stations, airports, banks etc.) Those may be sculptures, installations, murals, billboards... During the course we will discuss the nature of such works of art, both permanent and ephemeral, in various parts of the world. We will search for answers to the following questions:

• In what way does a work art in the public sphere change the space?

• What is the meaning of the context?

• What does it mean that the art is public?

The course has a character of a workshop. We spend a lot of time outdoors seeing works of art in situ and meeting various people responsible for their realisation (curators / cultural managers / organisers of public art festivals / artists).

Topics of classes will include public art festivals, street art, permanent and temporary installations in the city space, art on the transport.

In Krakow we will visit MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art Museum, see works created within the Trail of Krakow Street Art, sculptures and installations created for the Art Boom festival and “Eros Bendato” by Igor Mitoraj.

Study tour to Warsaw (an integral part of the course, organised individually by students), one full day during the working week. In the programme meetings/seminars on the temporary pavilion of the Museum of Modern Art (the outside as a canvas), Sculpture Park in Bródno, installation “Greetings from Aleje Jerozolimskie” by Joanna Rajkowska
