Kurs bada polityczne, społeczne, ekonomiczne i kulturowe aspekty stosunków polsko-żydowskich w XX wieku, skupiając się na okresie Holokaustu i jego skutkach. The course surveys the political, social, economic, and cultural aspects of Polish-Jewish relations in the 20th century focusing on the period of the Holocaust and its aftermath. It also looks at the memory of these relations in the post World War II period. Major topics covered include: theories of prejudices, antisemitism, empirical studies of racism and antisemitism. Two study trips to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum and the Museum Galicia are envisaged followed by discussions. |

Forma i warunki zaliczenia: | (tylko po angielsku) Student’s group projects and presentations 50% of grade Discussions and presence in class 50% of grade Groups projects and presentations are expected to be creative and based on own in-depth work. Every presentation (approx. 30 min. long) should be accompanied by a visualisation including the main theses and a bibliography with academic publications/articles, which students used for preparing the results of their projects. Please mind the quality of your sources! |

It also looks at antisemitism worldwide and includes analysis of empirical studies. Major topics covered include: theories of prejudices, antisemitism, empirical studies of racism and antisemitism, work of international, national and intergovernmental institutions aimed to overcome antisemitism. |

(tylko po angielsku) Course objectives: Exploring history, concepts and theories of antisemitism. Examining the concept of group identities, self-esteem and forms of prejudices. Analysing perpetrators of prejudices and antisemitism. Promoting critical thinking about research on antisemitism. Developing proposal on strategies against antisemitism and other forms of racism and prejudices. Cooperation between students from different countries, cultural backgrounds and studies. Topics: 1.
