Cele kształcenia:

This course supports the strong ability of practice and firm professional quali- ties and aims to:


1. help the students to grasp the basic concepts and issues of international trade practice.


2. help the students to understand basic practical procedure and principles of international

trade.


3. help the students to understand basic conventions and laws in the field of international

trade practice.

Components of the final grade:


• Active participation in class - 50% of final grade. Each student may have one absence


from class with no consequences.


• Final exam - 50% of final grade. Final exam form: written tests, multiple choice questions,


fill-in-the blank test and business correspondence writin

Skrócony opis:

International Trade Practice is a special basic course for students majoring in International Econom-ics and Trade, which studies the specific process of international commodity transaction with traits of practicalness, flexibility and comprehensiveness. The main content of this course covers the whole chain of commodity import & export, studying its principles, skills, development, rules and practices as well as the policies and laws of different trading countries. The specific studying areas include:

1.the important trading conditions and terms, such as

(a) the quality, quantity and packing of the commodity;

(b) trade terms and commodity price;

(c) shipment and insurance;

(d) payment;

(e) prevention and handling of disputes etc.;

2.negotiating and concluding contracts;

3.implementing import or export contracts;

Pełny opis:

1. Brief Introduction of International Trade in China: some basic definitions and expres-sions related to import and export as well as an overview about foreign trade in China.

2. General procedure of foreign trade; quality, quantity and packing of commodity; quality, quantity and packing clauses of sales contract; writing practice: establishment of business relations

3 Trade terms and the relevant international practices; application of trade terms; price clauses of sales contract; writing practice: Inquiry

4. Cargo transportation: including transport modes and delivery clauses in sales con-tract; writing practice: quotation and offer

5. Cargo transportation Insurance: 1. Perils, loss and charge in marine transport 2. Ocean marine cargo clause of the CIC 3.Institute Cargo Clauses 4. Ocean cargo in-surance practice in China 4. Insurance clauses in Sales Contract; writing practice: counter-offer and order

6. Settlement Instruments: bill of exchange, check, promissory Note; Terms of payment: 1. Remittance 2.Collection 3.Letter of Credit; writing practice: urging L/C, informing L/C, amending L/C

7. Commodity inspection, complaint, claim and its settlement; writing practice: arrang-ing shipment and insurance, lodging a claim.

8. Summary of the course. Final test
