Pełny opis: |
Introduction This course is for students who are preparing to link their careers with public administration, public policy, business management. Language of instruction: English. Corruption is an economic, political, ethical and legal problem that exists in many parts of the world, despite the efforts of states and international organizations. Corruption is a universal problem, but most authors believe that local government is the most vulnerable. Business companies face the challenges of corruption while investing and operating in various jurisdictions. Because a number of business activities are related to state regulation, public procurement, therefore, in order to circumvent it or win procurement, company managers use corruption, i.e. bribery of public servants. On the other hand, the demand for corruption can be dictated by the exclusive discretion of civil servants, who can demand bribes from businessmen for the issuance of necessary permits and licenses. Naturally, under such circumstances, future managers and economic specialists need knowledge about how to behave ethically, fairly, protect their company's reputation, and the like. Although there is no universal recipe for creating transparent goverment, some tools can be essential in formulating and implementing policies at the local level and in linking them to modern management. "Corruption is a complex phenomenon with economic, social and political aspects that cannot be easily eradicated" [Buscaglia, Edgardo, 1999]. |
