LECTURE TOPICS (with the number of hours) – learning content Part I. Basic Concepts of Management – An Overwiew Lecture 1 (6h) – Introduction to Management - Concept Traditional and contemporary meaning of Management Definitions of Management Nature or characteristics of Management Is Management a Science or an Art? What are the functions/process of management? Basic terms and definitions connected with traditional and contemporary concepts of Management Lecture 2 (4h) - Introduction to classical management concepts, starting from scientific management through administrative approach to social approach in management Lecture 3 (2h) - Presentation of situational approach and system approach in management Part II. Modern Concepts of Management Lecture 4 (6h) - Presentation of concepts of management based on process and objectives, including: Management by Objectives (MBO), Reengineering - BPR (Business Process Reengineering) , Lean Management , Benchmarking, Outsourcing or Offshoring, with practical examples. Lecture 5 (2h) Presentation of concepts of management based on time and customer relations with practical examples such as TBM (Time Based Management) and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) for Customer-Oriented Business. Lecture 6 (2h) Presentation of concepts of management based on quality: TQM (Total Quality Management) and Continuous Improvement (CI). Lecture 7 (4h) Presentation of concepts of management based on knowledge: knowledge and competences management, intelligent and learning organization. General systems thinking approach in management. Lecture 8 (2h) Introduction of virtual and network organizations concepts of management. Lecture 9 (2h) Presentation of concept of social responsibility in organization (CSR). |
