The course aims to enhance and improve presentation skills of the students, in both oral and written forms. The course provides for important knowledge on the techniques of oral presentation, the best possible ways of ‘selling the product’ in oral and written form, as well as the challenge of answering questions and critique in a public discourse. As the part of the course, the students will have an opportunity to practice their skills by giving public presentations, by improving and interpreting the substance of written texts into a more perfect form, as well as by discussing and analyzing in class strengths and weaknesses of oral presentations authored by famous figures of politics and culture. The final assessment shall be based upon the results the student gets for every task prepared by the professor. There shall be three tasks overall, and the sum of points shall determine the final grade for the course.

TASK ONE: Preparation and presentation of an argumentation in one of the chosen case

studies: defense of a person accused of certain crime, speech of a politician accused of money

fraud, statement of a company CEO in the time of crisis, promotion of a new product being

introduced in market, etc. (the topic to be suggested by the professor). The student should use

her/his own argumentation and decide about the form of the speech.

TASK TWO: Reading and analyzing a written text disseminated by the professor in order to

prepare a short presentation concerning its content. The role of the student is to choose which

issues are worth presenting and in what form.

TASK THREE: Giving an attractive presentation on the topic of student’s doctoral research

(any aspect of the topic). The presentation does not have to be long, but it should attract the

audience and raise important questions regarding its substance. The audience should focus

mainly on the form rather than on the substance, but there should be a discussion concerning

some aspects of the presented material which the student would need to defend in public.
