USOSweb – first steps
USOS
USOS (University Study-Oriented System) is a main system operating studies of all JU students. It includes personal details, courses, enrollment information, grades, and more. Only secretary’s and dean’s offices’ employees have access to USOS.
USOSweb
USOSweb is an integral part of USOS designed for students and academic teachers. It allows easy access to some USOS data via an Internet browser. Data migration between those programs takes place once a day, around 4.20 a.m.
Basic functions of USOSweb
- Directory of faculties, programs, courses and persons
The offer of courses organized by the JU units, the courses’ schedule, the employees' shifts, and much more may be checked using directories and search engines.
- Schedule
A student already registered for a particular course or a course group may access the schedule via the appropriate tab of USOSweb. The schedule consists of a clear list of courses from the entire week.
- Registration for courses
Internet registrations for courses and course groups. You may register for mandatory or optional courses on the dates specified by the faculties.
- Registration for exams
Students who are registered for a particular course may register for exams for a chosen day and time.
- Linkage of courses
To include courses in the programme/programmes and on the exam card must be linked to the appropriate year of the particular programme. USOSweb allows linkage of courses before the end of the semester.
- Grades
An overview of grades. Academic teachers must input grades to USOSweb immediately, allowing students to have quick access to exam results.
- Scholarships
You may check information regarding scientific, social, and doctoral scholarships.
- Payments
USOS operates payments for studies, student cards, repeating a year/course. Each student receives an individual bank account number for payments. Bank account number, amount of a fee, deadline for payment, and information about the receipt of payment by the JU are available in USOSweb.
- Communication
Thanks to internal U-MAIL students may contact their academic teachers and fellow students from their group. USOSweb directs messages sent via U-MAIL to the e-mail addresses of recipients.
- E-mail in the @student.uj.edu.pl domain
Each student is obliged to create an e-mail account on the JU server. We encourage you to use this account for consulting matters regarding your studies. You may create an account easily in the Student’s section tab.
- Centralized authentication
Logging in to USOSweb is operated by the central e-mail system. Thanks to that the password for USOSweb is the
same as to your e-mail account, and other services operated by the central e-mail system.
In the case of
employees, combining the USOSweb account with the e-mail account is necessary to enable this function.
More
information on services and operation of the central e-mail system click Help – Authentication tab.
- Surveys
After each semester, students evaluate their academic teachers. Surveys’ results are then analyzed and presented to the governance of faculties.
Remember
- your faculty is responsible for the functions above. Some faculties use all of them, some of them unfortunately not.
- secretary’s offices input most of the data to USOS, if some data is incorrect or missing, the secretary’s office must change it.
- you may register for courses only during the registration time. For more information click Help - Registration tab.
- academic teachers input grades to USOSweb (according to the Rector’s order), if a grade is missing, contact the teacher.
- data migration between USOS and USOSweb takes place once a day (read more in the Help -> Migration tab).
- if problems with logging in occur: read carefully Logging in instruction, as often students forget that they have changed their password and try to use the old password.
- if technical problems occur, contact the USOS team via e-mail, click Help -> Contact tab for more information.
