17.12.2025 Launch of multi-factor authentication for students
We would like to inform you that, in accordance with Rector of the Jagiellonian University Ordinance No. 108 of 28 October 2025, multi-factor authentication will be enabled for student and doctoral accounts in mid-December. Educational IT systems are among the systems most frequently targeted by attacks—more often than financial systems. Multi-factor authentication is currently the most effective method of protecting user accounts against takeover, which is also reflected in the recommendations of the EU NIS2 directive currently being implemented in Poland.
Login confirmation will be possible using a mobile application (authenticator) or via SMS. We encourage the use of an authenticator app, as it provides the highest level of security.
We already encourage you to configure an authenticator app and enable multi-factor authentication in advance. Detailed information on how to configure your smartphones for multi-factor authentication can be found on the IT Help website.
If you have any questions, please contact the IT Help team at: pomocit@uj.edu.pl.
We also encourage you to set a private email address in the Profile module, which can be used for emergency account access in case you lose control over the second authentication factor.
